About:

This guide is set up to store some of the knowledge and experiences of running an Eco-Olympics competition at Lewis and Clark. Please continue to pass on information and keep this blog alive year after year so we can continue to make the eco-olympics better and something we are proud of.

Running the eco-olympics might seem like a daunting task but remember that you are not alone! and there have been many people in the past whose shoulders you can stand on. Also remember that no matter what there is no real way for the eco-olympics to fail!

First Steps

watch these videos here:

Ask to meet with these people (separately):
Head of facilities - richard bettega
dean of students - celestino limas
RD's - look them up online

At each of the meetings tell them what you have in mind dates, events, and ask how they could get involved.

I tried and failed to involve RA's in the process. At the beginning of every semester RA's have a mandatory get together and I presented what we were doing and asked if anyone wanted to be a dorm organizer. I had folders with more info in them. I think however I failed to clearly say what I wanted people to do. I foresaw the organizer as someone who encourages people to reduce energy, maybe sets up a hall meeting to discuss energy reduction tips and talk make sure everyone knows that the eco-olympics are going on. Several RA's did make posters about how to save electricity. Some ideas for the future:
-have a RA poster making night, get some food and invite RA's to come discuss plans and make posters
-have at least one designated RA responsible for each dorm area
-have the organizer post a weekly score in each section
